Colonial Williamsburg

Shelby and Claire are tracked out of school for 3 weeks (they do year round school- so they are in school for 9 weeks then out for 3). Grandma and Grandpa came to visit. They drove from AZ via Texas to NC. We decided to go on a little road trip. We went to Williamsburg, VA. Our first stop was Colonial Williamsburg.

They have re-created the town as it was in the 1770's.
Jake is enjoying a musket. (Who knew that Jake would like a weapon?)

They had lots of fun shops. We are smelling a lovely peppermint soap ball.

Grandpa, Madison and Grandma are enjoying a bit of a break.

The Colonists are discussing those blasted Brits. Trouble's a comin!

This guy is a traitor. Tar and Feather him!!!

We were really close to these people- Kailey was really feeling like she was living in the history!

All of us by the Governor's Palace.

Jake with some really cool swords in the Governor's Palace.

Shelby in the green room. I am sure that the governor and his family felt like they really were in the wilderness. Compared to the elite homes in Europe this feels like the frontier and the edge of civilization.

Claire and Shelby in the gardens behind the palace.

Emery with her new doll Margaret by the gardens at the palace.

We enjoyed our day in Colonial Williamsburg. (However, if you ever get to go to Nauvoo- it is just as fun and FREE!)
